Women's Groups Prepare to Welcome New Era of Accountability for Crimes Against Women.
New York, April 2002 - On Thursday, 11 April 2002, the four remaining ratifications necessary to bring into force the treaty creating the world's first permanent international criminal court will be finalized at a special ratification ceremony conducted by the UN Treaty Office.

WLUML warmly welcomes the historic ratification of the ICC treaty by the 60th state signatory. For all the women of the world, especially those who have struggled so long and hard to ensure an end to impunity for all forms of gender violence, this is the beginning of being able to live our dream. A huge cheer of congratulations and thanks to all at the ICC Women's Caucus for making this happen!
