Rural Women’s Access to Land and Property in Selected Countries. Progress Towards Achieving the Aims of Articles 14, 15 and 16 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. This study provides information on the historical background to the Convention and its Optional Protocol, and on the working methods of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women in monitoring compliance with the Convention. It also summarizes information provided in reports of selected countries to the Committee from 1997 to 2003, with specific reference to women’s access to land and property, and their inheritance rights and legal capacity.
