International: Vacancy: Programme Coordinator, "Women reclaiming and re-defining cultures"
• control over sexuality (to include rights to be free from discrimination, coercion and violence; bodily and mental integrity, mobility, dress codes, personhood including sexual orientation and choice of partner);
• property and inheritance rights.
We welcome applicants who possess the following qualifications:
1. At least five (5) years experience in project management in a complex, multi-country, multi-level environment.
2. A good understanding of how ‘culture,’ religion and ‘tradition’ are often used to restrict women’s rights, and working knowledge of the issues related to violence against women and its intersection with patriarchal control over women’s rights to sexuality, property and inheritance rights.
3. Proven ability to work and communicate sensitively with different teams in multi-cultural and diverse settings both as a team member or team leader.
4. An action-oriented strategic thinker.
5. Proven ability to prepare and implement a project budget with different budget lines and in setting up and monitoring a financial management system.
6. Proven oral and writing skills in English with particular emphasis on the ability to write narrative reports. A working knowledge of a second language being used in countries covered by the project is desirable.
7. IT literate with an ability to use computer software on word processing, spreadsheet, Skype and other VOIP. A working knowledge of the political, economic and social environments of the following regions / countries covered by the project would be an advantage. Asia (Afghanistan, Iran, Indonesia, Pakistan); and Africa (Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan).
The successful candidate is expected to be capable of independently self-managing time/work and will report to the WLUML-IWE Strategic Taskforce Women Reclaiming Culture Programme.
The post will be for two and half years including a 6-month probation period. Contract will be renewable annually.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
