WLUML Welcomes New Members to the Board and Council!

Following WLUML’s Annual General Meeting, we are delighted to welcome aboard the new members of our Board and Council.

To the Board we welcome Ariane Brunet (Canada), Codou Bop (Senegal), and Najia Haneefi (Afghanistan). 

To the Council we welcome Fatma Emam (Egypt), Samah Hadid (Lebanon/Australia), Farah Mihlar (Sri Lanka), Leila Mouri (Iran/USA), Dina Wahba (Egypt), and Homa Hoodfar (Iran/Canada - returning to the Council having stepped down from the Board). 

WLUML is extremely happy to have you all on board, and look forward to the energy you will bring to the WLUML family!

As well as these new members we are pleased to confirm current members to the Board: Doaa Abdelaal (Egypt), Karima Bennoune (Algeria/USA), Isatou Touray (Gambia), and Djingarey Maiga (Mali). 

We also welcome back our returning Council members: Rima Athar (Canada), Rochelle Terman (USA), Afaf Jabiri (Jordan/UK), Amie Bojong Sisso (Gambia), Hauwa Abdu Biu (Nigeria), Qutub Jahan Kidwai (India), Hasina Khan (India), Sri Wiyanti (Indonesia), Vivienne Wee (Hong Kong), Mufuliat Fijabi (Nigeria), Chulani Kodikara (Sri Lanka), and Zeinabou Hadari (Niger). 

May all of your input continue to nourish our network.

We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to those who are stepping down this year after many years of voluntary service.  We express our gratitude Faizun Zackaria (Sri Lanka) who has stepped down from the Board after more than 25 years of commitment to WLUML.  We also thank Zarizana Abdul Aziz (Malaysia/USA), who steps down from the Board and her role as Chair of the Board.  Finally we extend our gratitude to Katayoon Hoodfar (Iran/USA) who steps down from the Board and takes up her role as Company Secretary.  We also thank Fatou Sow (Senegal) who is stepping down from the Board while continuing in her role as International Director, and Homa Hoodfar (Iran/Canada) who is stepping down and beginning her term as a Council member.

We thank all of you for the expertise and guidance you have provided. 

We also extend our warm thanks to exiting Council members Aisha Shaheed (UK/Canada), Fahima Hashim (Sudan), Samia Allalou (Algeria/France), and Roya Rahmani (Afghanistan/Canada) – thank you for the wisdom and energy you have given to the network. 

We look forward to a year ahead that is injected with new knowledge and approaches, and renewed vitality!
