International: Contribute to the radio programme for AMARC-WIN's broadcast for the 16 Days campaign

From 25 November 25 to 10 December 2007, the Women's International Network of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC-WIN) will highlight the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence with a second Annual Internet campaign.
Contribute to AMARC-WIN 16 days against gender violence! This year, the theme of the broadcast will be: Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles: End Violence against Women.

International human rights treaties and declarations created within the United Nations that address violence against women and require States to take action include the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW, 1979), Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women (DEVAW, 1993), Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995), Statute of the International Criminal Court (Rome Statute, 1998), Millennium Declaration (2000) and Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and security, among others.

Community radio producers from Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America and the Caribbean will dedicate these 16 days to highlight the effort of women and men working to put an end to gender violence. The programs featured will include documentaries, interviews, debates, poetry, music and much more.

This multilingual broadcast campaign mobilizes community radios around a global issue and encourages them to use new communication technologies such as the Internet to extend the reach of their voices.

Radio stations around the globe are invited to download the audio files from the AMARC-WIN 16 days website and broadcast them in their radio stations during the 16 days campaign which starts on November 25th and end on December 10th 2007.

Share your radio programs; contribute to this year 16 days radio marathon. AMARC WIN is looking forward to your pre-recorded material that focuses on Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles: End Violence against Women. Material on other subjects will also be welcomed. The language, length and format of the audio programs are discretionary. Please send us your material in MP3, OGG or WAV format. For the broadcast on November 25th we need your material by November 20th, any material sent later will also be posted on the website throughout the campaign. The coordination of the 16 days campaign at the international level will be ensured by the International Secretariat of AMARC. Regionally, the campaign will be coordinated by the regional AMARC-WIN representatives in conjunction with AMARC regional offices.
