UK: Siddiqui tells Iranians: don’t fuel further hatred

Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, leader of the Muslim Parliament, has condemned the Iranian daily Hamshari’s plan to publish cartoons satirising the Holocaust.
Having seen the response to the offensive cartoons published in the Danish newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, in the Muslim communities worldwide, it comes as a shock to know that an Iranian daily, Hamshari, plans to publish images satirising the Holocaust.
Coming so soon after President Ahmedinejad’s announcement that his government plans to organise a conference against the Holocaust, is a very worrying development. What would such actions achieve except fuel further incitement to hatred and violence between communities. There is enough gulf between Jews and Muslims. It is like a world gone mad. One simply hopes that both the newspaper and the Iranian president will reconsider their decision and refrain from going ahead with their plans for the sake of common humanity.
